Chief Josiah Olabanji Akande Oyinloye
Bale-Aresigun
1911- 2006
Chief Josiah Olabanji Akande Oyinloye was born in the year 1911, in Esie town. He was famous for business ideas from childhood.
He started with the business of buying and selling of Palm Kernel in and around Esie, Offa and Ilorin.
​
He started animal skin (for shoe making) business at Orile-Iganmu. He later moved to Lagos Island to open a shop for importation of Bicycle parts between 1944 - 1948.
​
Chief Josiah Oyinloye Bale, until his death was the President of the combined ‘Egbe Ironupiwada’ that later changed their name to ‘Egbe Binukonu’, with 107 members.
​
Late Josiah Bale was a true African who believed in large family, coupled with the fact that he was a High Chief in Esie Town.
In this regard he married wives to boost his hierarchy status as High Chief. He was blessed with many children who are making significant impact in their respective careers.
​
Chief Josiah Olabanji Akande Oyinloye was installed the Bale of Esie in December 1973, alongside others, Chief Osolo and Elejikun.
​
It is pertinent to note that Chief Josiah Oyinloye even as a Traditional Chief was conscious of the service of man to his Creator while on earth.
He was a leading example at the Church services at St. Michael Anglican Church, Esie and King’s Church, Enu-Owa, Lagos. To corroborate this fact, he went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem in the seventies.
He was a devoted Christian during his lifetime; he loved spiritual exercises as praying, fasting and Bible reading.

Chief Josiah Olabanji Akande Oyinloye Bale was called to glory around 10:00pm on the 5th day of September 2006

Professor Olumuyiwa Awe
1932-2015
OLUMUYIWA AKINTOLA OLORUNNINYO AWE, PhD. (Cantab), life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
(FAS), London, Member of the Order of the Niger (MON)., Emeritus Professor of Physics, University of Ibadan.
He received his elementary education at Saint Michael’s Primary School, Esie and Saint Mark’s School, Offa.
He was admitted to Government College, Ibadan, in January 1946 and passed the Cambridge
School Certificate Examination in May 1951. In 1955, he earned the B.Sc. (General) degree in Physics,
Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics in First-class Division, making him the first person to obtain
a First-class General degree in Science in the history of the (then) University College, Ibadan.
​
He crowned this with another First-class Special Honours degree in Physics in June 1956, thus becoming the first person to obtain a First-class degree in Physics at the institution.
A foremost academic, he became a
Professor of Physics and Head of the Department at the University of Ibadan (UI) on March 7, 1969, the
first Nigerian to occupy the post. He was at the forefront of administrative leadership in Science and
Technology at both university and national levels.
He served as UI’s Dean of the Faculty of Science (1969 to 1975 and 1980 to 1983).
He was elected the first President of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (1973), President of the Science
Association of Nigeria (1978-80) and the West African Science Association. He was awarded Member of
the Order of the Niger (MON) by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1981.

He was, at a time, Chairman of the Kwara State’s Scholarship Board and later the Chairman of the State’s Library Board. In 1994, he was appointed an Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Ibadan.
He was Chairman of UI’s anti-cultism campaign committee (1999-2009).
In 1998, God led him to start his ministry – Fullness of Christ Evangelical Ministry (FOCEM), a non-denominational Christian ministry.

He later founded a Church, Christ’s Temple, in Ibadan. In addition, he authored several physics textbooks
and pastoral books. Professor Olumuyiwa Awe, Emeritus Professor of Physics, child and servant of God, passed on to glory on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 82 years
Sir Joseph Olawepo Ayodele Oyinloye
1929-2022
Sir Joseph Olawepo Ayodele Oyinloye (JP) lived a fulfilled life that had a tremendous impact on his immediate family, the church, and society at large.
Sir Ayodele Oyinloye was a man of many FIRSTS, a very bright pupil. He came out First position in the First School Leaving Certificate Examination in the Old Ibadan Archdeaconry comprising Anglican schools in Ibadan, Osogbo, Okuku, Ikirun, Otan-Ayegbaju, Inisa, Ilorin and Offa. He proceeded to St. Mark’s Primary School Offa for his Higher Elementary school.
He attended St. John’s College, Owo for his Grade II between 1953 and 1954 where he was the Senior Prefect.
On May 20, 1957, he was appointed the First tutor of Bishop Smith Memorial College then at Offa to assist the Principal, Late Rev. T. A. Aregbesola who later appointed him as the Senior Tutor of the College in 1958 on account of hard work.
He earned a degree in Economics at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland in 1962, a mission he accomplished with a first-class testimonial.
On completion of his education, he accepted to be the principal of the Anglican College of Commerce, Offa (now Anglican Comprehensive College) in January 1967 and served meritoriously for 10 years before he retired voluntarily.
Sir Oyinloye was the First Chairman of N.U.T, Kwara.
He was elected a Councillor to represent Esie/Arandun Constituency at the then Ilorin Native Authority Council. He was elected as the Patron of the Igbomina Students’ Union, Offa Grammar School Branch in 1959. Between 1967 and 1976, he was Chairman of Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina, Offa Branch. In 1979, he was elected Chairman of Omo Ibile Esie. He was appointed as Chairman of Kwara State Schools Board (now Kwara State Teaching Service Commission).
​
He was also privileged to author about 10 books which cut across education development, Christianity, leadership, Igbomina, autobiography, and democracy. His contributions to the Esie and Igbomina at large endeared him to be honoured with the chieftaincy title of the Aare of Esie land by the Royal family in 1982.
He was the pioneer Diocesan Secretary for about 21 years. He was among the First set of Knights in Kwara State Diocese of the Church of Nigeria.
He was a Bishop’s nominee to the Synod, a member of the Diocesan Board, a member of the Joint Board, a member of the Think Tank Committee and Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Diocesan Missionary Society.
A devoted Family and Community-focused man , Sir Ayodele Oyinloye lived 93 years of impact.
Chief Joseph Agboola Ooye, the Ooye Baba Oba of Esie,
1934-2022
Chief Joseph Agboola Ooye, was born in 1934 to the family of the progenitor of Esie Land, Prince Amuidiadesole who left the Old Oyo-Ile in 1746 after losing the contest of Alaafin of Oyo to Alaafin Amuniwaye. In 1952, while his biological father was late David Oyeniyi Ooye.
He was installed the Jagunmolu of Esie Land and Ooye Baba Oba of Esie on 28th August, 1982 and 24th December, 1993 respectively.
He was a well known farmer of repute in Esie.
He was the Vice Principal of Esie-Iludun Grammar School and pioneer Principal of Community Secondary School Esie.
Chief Agbo-Oye authored the following books:
1. Ere Esie: A First Person Account in 2004.
2. A Compendium of Tourist Attraction in Nigeria in 2010.
3. History of Esie in 2017.
Chief Agbo Oye passed on to glory in 2022.
Chief Joshua Olabanji Olatunji Oyinloye
1929-1995
Chief Tunji Oyinloye, was born in Esie in 1929.
He was installed as the Asiwaju of Esie Kngdom in 1982.
​
With a B.A. (LONDON) 1961, and MPA (PITTS) 1966,
Chief Tunji Oyinloye started his career as the Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Northern Nigeria (1961-1964).
He worked in various capacities as a civil servant, which were not limited to lecturing at A.B.U. Zaria (1966-1968), Principal Assistant Secretary-1968 at the Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Before this appointment he was appointed , member of the group of wise men who subsequently gave Kwara State its name. and capital in their Report..

Chief Tunji Oyinloye rose to the level of Permanent Secretary at the Kwara State Ministry of Works (1971-1975) from where he retired in 1975
​
Chief Tunji Oyinloye retired into politics and was appointed into many notable positions such as:
Chairman - Manpower Planning Board, Kwara State';
Chairman - University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Management Board which gave him the privilege of establishing a Teaching Hospital in Esie, his home Town.

A patriotic and illustrious son of Esie, Chief Tunji Oyinloye was indeed.
He passed on in 1995

ALH Fodilat sheikh Busari Folohunsho Yusuf Bojuwoye.
The late Chief Imam of ESIE kingdom.
1936-2022
ALH Fodilat sheikh Busari Folohunsho Yusuf Bojuwoye was the Chief Imam of ESIE kingdon from 25th of March 1999 to, the 9th of June 2022, when he departed this world at 86 years.
​
He was loved by all. A family man with only one wife.
He impacted many who testify to his great leadership.
Chief E.A.O. Oyeyipo
1932- 2010
Chief Ezekiel Adeyemi Ore Oyeyipo was born in Esie, Irepodun LGA of Kwara State.
He held a Master's Degree in Economics and Administration from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennesse, USA.
​
A seasoned Administrator, Chief Oyeyipo served the defunct Northern Nigerian Government in various capacities before his deployment to Kwara State.
​
He was the first Under Secretary (Establishment ) in Kwara State and was later appointed Permanent Secretary.
He served in many Ministries and the Ministry of Health was probably the only Ministry where he did not serve..
​
He voluntarily retired from the civil service of Kwara State to pursue a Career in Academics.
​
He taught courses in Local Government and Public Administration and supervised various Post Graduate Projects in local Government and Public Administration . He was indeed a guru of Local Government and was involved in various consultancy services and Government Committee works such as Adebo wage Review Committee (1969-1970).
Chief Oyeyipo belonged to no less than 10 Professional Associations such as Nigerian Institute of Personnel Management, Fellow, British Institute of Management, and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators to mention a few.

Motivating the Youths, he was the Patron of ABU and Unilorin JAYCEES; Kwara Students Union, ABU and Boys Brigade , Ilorin etc

Chief Oyeyipo was the Diocesan Registrar, Anglican Diocese of Kwara State, that later became Diocese of Igbomina with the Head Quarters in Esie.
​
Chief Oyeyipo published several works. He co-edited Government and Grassroot Level in Nigeria (1987).
​
Chief Oyeyipo also held a number of sensitive Political Offices, such as the Special Adviser to the Chief of General Staff on Local Government Affairs 1987-1990.
Chief Oyeyipo was the Civilian Deputy Governor 1990-1991.

Deaconess Mary Kikelomo Ibiwoye
14th April 1937 - 16th Jan. 2011
Deaconess Mary Kikelomo Ibiwoye (Nee Oyinloye) was born in Lagos on 14th April, 1937.
She was a native of Esie by parentage and the third child of the Late Pa Jacob Oyinloye, a Lay Reader and Princess Chief Rachael Olangbenjo Oyinloye, the late Iyalode of St. Michael's Church ( now the Cathedral Church of St. Michael) Esie.
​
She attended St. Michael Primary School, Esie, where she finished her primary education in 1955. She proceeded to St. Peter's College Kaduna - after her two years ( 1957 - 1959) of teaching at St. Michael Primary School, Esie.
Deaconess M.K. Ibiwoye taught in several Primary Schools before she retired voluntarily as HM1 on 31st December, 1993 at Iyeruokin Primary School, Offa.
She was a virtuous woman, infact a Deborah, Priscilla, Queen Esther, Lois and Eunice of our time as both wife to her husband, Mr Abraham Ibiwoye of Olowa Compound, Iludun-Oro and mother of her children.

Deaconess M.K Ibiwoye had the grace to be a devout Christian. She served as treasurer, prayer warrior and Bible teacher in God's vineyards. She was an active member of the IYWCA Society of St. James Cathedral Church Iludun-Oro and was known to be accommodating.
​
She was a giver, an intercessor and a woman who had respect and honour for people especially Men of God (Ministers). She became Born - again in 1985 and was ordained as Deaconess in 1995.
Her words of mouth were always seasoned with salt. Here are some of them:

"Ma bi nu ( don't be annoyed)

Deaconess Mary Kikelomo Ibiwoye by the grace of God lived for Jesus Christ. During her life time, she saw and shared a lot of revelation on Christian living and heavenly visions with people, a rare privilege.
Chief (Mrs.) Victoria Ibidunni Fatoki
March 3rd, 1933 - Sept 27th 2022
Chief Mrs Victoria Ibidunni Fatoki was born in Esie,Okelegun compound on March 3rd 1933.
A native of Esie and the second child of her parents,in persons of PA Jacob Oyinloye ( a layreader at St Michael Anglican Church ( now Cathedral of St Michael),and Princess Chief Mrs Rachel Olagbenjo Oyinloye.
She attended St Michael Primary School Esie. She didn't complete her education because her grandmother wanted her to marry her husband, so she was withdrawn from school on that account, so that she will not be more educated than her husband.
​
At a young age she was taken to Lagos to learn trade and to do business which she was very good at doing.
She traded in Ankara, baby wears, ladies under wears.
​
She later, was selling bread and eggs in her neighborhood after the demise of her husband in 1976 to enable her to train her children.
She finally came back to Ilorin to settle down in year 2000 with her daughter who lives in ilorin and was selling provision in front of her house.
The reason she did this was because she hated idleness/ laziness love to do business that will bring income to better her life.
​
She was a giver, lover of people, a social being who had a lot of leadership qualities.
She was a woman of wisdom, a lover of peace. She settles people's quarrels for the sake of peace and of heaven.
​
She got married to her late husband Pa John Abikoye Fatoki in 1951 and were blessed with children.
A devoted Christian, Matron to many society in the church ad in the town. She was the matron to church choir and some youth clubs in the town. Also because of her disposition and leadership qualities, she was made the Yeye Oba of Esie kingdom in 2008. She was a lover of God's word, always in Bible class to learn She was also an active member of YWCA, ( a group of young women in the church,whose aim is both social and developing their Christian faith. . She was a prayerful person. She never missed her prayer band meeting even when in Lagos,and always in all night prayers at ilorin. She became born again in 1986.
She was always positive in her words.
She used to say ," ma ba enia je, oniwa ni yio royin iwa re", meaning" Don't spoil any character, they will eventually show whom they are".
She loved hardwork and always encouraged people to be hardworking. She saw laziness as a disease , that is the reason she always frowned at lazy people. She would say "alapa ma sise" to the person.
She believed in taking care of oneself.
She lived for Jesus throughout her life time and life of no compromise. She never denied Jesus as her Lord and savior when alive. She is a soldier of Christ.
A mother in deed and indeed.
PA HEZEKIAH ADEBAYO OYINLOYE
Died 13th February, 1982
PA HEZEKIAH ADEBAYO OYINLOYE
Baba, was one of the people who started PATIENT MEDICINE STORES in Nigeria.
He was the Director / CEO of:
H. A. OYINLOYE & SONS, 6 Balogun Street, Lagos, Nigeria and indeed, a successful business man and general merchant.
Pa H A Oyinloye was the one who fought to recover the land dispute for Esie between Ijan and Esie through the appeal court in Lagos.
A philanthropist and a man of the people he was.
He was a family man with successful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
He was popularly known as Baba SuruLere because he opened his home to all.
